Maroma Team Visits the Matrimandir: A Journey Within

Over the two weeks in March, our team visited the Matrimandir. Each visit, spaced a week apart, began at 7:30 AM with a short introduction about the significance of this special space. The Matrimandir, often described as the soul of Auroville, is a place dedicated to inner discovery and silence. After the talk, the teams crossed the lush gardens, passing beneath tropical palm trees before climbing the spiral ramp leading to the inner chamber, where the teams each sat for 30 minutes of deep meditation.

Beyond the chamber, the teams explored the twelve petals (small meditation chambers, illuminated in different colours), each representing one of Mother’s qualities – Sincerity, Humility, Gratitude, Perseverance, Aspiration, Receptivity, Progress, Courage, Goodness, Generosity, Equality, and Peace.

To complete each morning’s visit, we took a walk to the viewpoint, where we gathered for group photos, capturing not just images but the essence of a shared experience. The Matrimandir visits were not just moments of personal introspection but also opportunities for us to align more closely with Auroville and Maroma’s philosophy of mindfulness and harmony.
