World Environment Health Day is celebrated on the 26th of September!
At Maroma, caring for the environment is an essential part of how we make our products.

We use solar power, continually reduce plastic in our packaging, and separate materials for recycling. We also give materials a second life: spilt & leftover candle wax is reused to make special candles and also sold at lower prices for the Auroville community!

For us, sustainability means reducing waste, reusing what we can, and making thoughtful choices at every stage of production.

Here are a few more glimpses from our workshop with an inspiring group of 9th graders and what they had to say about the experience. The students explored the craftsmanship, creativity, and care that go into every Maroma creation.
Their curiosity and enthusiasm made the day truly memorable.

Long before incense was simply a fragrance, it was a ritual.

In ancient India, aromatic woods, resins, herbs, and flowers were used to cleanse spaces, deepen prayer, quiet the mind, and create a passage between the earthly and the divine.

The rising smoke was more than scent. It was a symbol of transformation, a reminder to pause, become present, and turn inward.

This wisdom was passed through generations, along with the art of selecting, blending, shaping, and slowly crafting each incense by hand.

Today, that ritual can be brought home. A single flame can transform an ordinary moment into one of stillness, reflection, and connection carrying something ancient into modern life.

We honour this tradition by keeping the craft at the heart of what we make.
Respecting the ingredients, the hands that shape them, and the patience behind the process.

Because incense is more than fragrance.

World Ozone Day 🌍

The ozone layer acts as Earth’s natural shield, absorbing much of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and helping protect life on our planet.

The recovery of the ozone layer is an important reminder of what we can achieve when the world works together.

The Montreal Protocol, adopted in 1987, brought countries together to phase out ozone-depleting substances and remains one of the most successful environmental agreements in history.

At Maroma, we believe caring for the planet begins with understanding the natural systems that sustain us and making choices that help protect them. 🌱
